The Instructors of SWEAT 716: Caitlin Brooks and Barbara Campos

Caitlin Brooks and Barbara Campos are two of SWEAT’s uber-talented pole instructors. They showed our camera some of their ultra-fly moves recently, and got us jonesin’ to learn some techniques ourselves (2020!). Caitlin was also able to answer some questions for us regarding her role at SWEAT.

About Caitlin:

I am 27 years old, born and raised in Buffalo NY! I work as a registered nurse in emergency medicine and out-patient as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I live in the city with my pitbull Willa and my kitten Winston!

What is your history with the health & wellness/fitness world? How has your trajectory brought you to where you are today?

My history in the health and fitness industry started when I was in nursing school; I worked at a local gym teaching group fitness! I have played soccer my whole life and after college I wanted to continue being active within the Buffalo community.

What is your primary role at SWEAT? How long have you been with the studio? Where else do you instruct, if anywhere? What is your major area of expertise?

I was a member at SWEAT before I became an instructor, and I have been teaching for almost a year now! My primary role at SWEAT is Pole Fitness Instructor! I do pole private lessons and pole parties; I also teach HIIT cardio classes and fill in when there’s a need for personal training!

Do you have a particular ethos about health & wellness/fitness that you wish to share or that would be inspirational to someone coming into the world with no prior knowledge or experience?

Let go of any negative self-talk and don’t compare yourself to anyone. Your journey is unique; the more self-love and acceptance you show yourself, empowerment and strength shine through. Everyone starts somewhere, and SWEAT provides the supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere for anyone who wants to step out of their comfort zone and explore their true capabilities!

Do you have any tips/tricks you can share on how to succeed in reaching personal health & wellness/fitness goals? What are some best practices you’ve developed or witnessed in your time as an instructor? Some of the biggest or most common mistakes one makes when embarking on this journey?

Life is all about balance; don’t eat like an asshole and focus on maintaining a healthy, stable body.

Do you have any other words of wisdom or advice you can share with people considering a new fitness journey in 2020?

Come try a pole class! 🙂 But really, it’s always important to love the process, trust the process, and don’t be afraid to try something new and feel good about yourself!
